Commissioner Robert A. Rapaport

The Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission is pleased to announce that Commissioner Robert A. Rapaport has been reappointed to serve an additional six-year term as a Commissioner of the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission.

Commissioner Rapaport, of Virginia Beach, was originally appointed to the Commission in 2017. He is a 1976 graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and earned his Juris Doctor in 1979 from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary. Prior to his appointment, Commissioner Rapaport practiced law for 35 years, with a strong focus on workers’ compensation.

Throughout his tenure, Commissioner Rapaport has made significant contributions to the Commission and to the broader workers’ compensation community. He has served as President of the Virginia Workers’ Compensation American Inn of Court and was inducted as a Fellow of the College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers in 2018. His leadership has also extended regionally through the Southern Association of Workers’ Compensation Administrators (SAWCA), where he previously served as Vice President and President.

Commissioner Rapaport’s reappointment reflects his continued dedication to fair, effective, and knowledgeable administration of Virginia’s workers’ compensation system, and the Commission is grateful for his continued service and leadership.
